  • Lesson 1. Artist strategy

In this lesson, we'll break down the basic questions that arise when creating an artist strategy: What is an artist's strategy? Who is it for and how should it be used? What types of strategies are there? How can adjustments be made? Additionally, we will provide examples, as well as how to implement it for a music team.

  • Lesson 2. Psycho-emotional tools are needed for a professional artist

Romanticising of music creates a gap between our music career dreams and the daily reality of being a professional. Let's look at an artist's career from the point of view of our inner creative mindset. Incorporate the logic of an organizer and entrepreneur to achieve the breakthroughs you desire. This lesson will explore the most effective tools for creativity that successful artists and musicians have used over the years: mindfulness, empathy, consistency, experimentation, and aesthetic intelligence.

  • Lesson 3. Product Approach in the Music Business

In this lesson, I offer you another change to your approach to project launches, releases, and concert ticket sales. You can implement this strategy independently or with the help of teams and partners. By absorbing the very attitude of music products going to market, experiencing changes in demand, competition, life cycles, etc., you'll be able to get the processes right and get the creative and management part of the team working.

  • Lesson 4. Artist team

This lesson covers professional industry practices and methods to help you manage your resources effectively and prepare you to meet the industry. It will also cover the management of independent artists, we'll look at the workings of small teams and the division of responsibilities within them. The main areas of work and team member responsibilities will also be explored. I will discuss the principles of agreements between artist, managers and team members. Additionally, there will be a brief chapter on the DIY method. The lesson is extensive, so please reserve enough time and patience. We will proceed from complex to simple.

  • Lesson 5. Starting a career. living and working on a minimal or no budget

This lesson will explore the concepts of ‘deficit” and 'abundance' thinking. Specifically, we will discuss how to start a music project without money, how to get your affairs in order, and how to change your mindset to set yourself up for success.

  • Lesson 6. Digital music distribution

In this lesson, we'll look at .... how record labels and independent artists use distributors to deliver their music to DSPs, and discuss the differences between distributors and content aggregators.

  • Lesson 7. Social media marketing basics for music projects

In this lesson, we'll cover the necessary groundwork in this area and take a detailed look at Instagram and Tiktok as the two absolute leaders in artist promotion today.

  • Lesson 8. Income sources for independent artists

In this lesson we will look at the main and additional sources of income related to music. We will talk about royalties of all kinds, how to earn from live performances, monetisation on social networks and streaming services. You will be able to put yourself in the shoes of a musician, producer, mix engineer and manager. We will talk about songwriting, beatmaking, session practice for other artists. even the life of a coverband and music teacher. But most importantly, we'll look at all the deep sources of income, go through the main sub-sectors of the music industry - labels, PRO's, CMO's and others. At the end we'll even fantasise about going from zero to hero, and that's what happens sometimes!

  • Lesson 9. Сontracts and Agreements

In this chapter, I will try to briefly discuss the most popular contracts and agreements. Let's look at why they are needed and what they should contain. What the role of lawyers is and how disputes are negotiated and resolved. Let's look at the manager's contract and the distributor's agreement so that you can navigate more freely in this difficult area. I ask you to accept simplifications and generalisations in this lesson because our aim is to look at the nature of obligations in music and to guide you towards a conscious approach to dealing with them.

  • Lesson 10. Showcases, Festivals and Talent shows

How do I get through the selection process? What are the criteria? What exactly do I have to do to get through the various stages? These are frequently asked questions by aspiring artists and their managers. It is also an eternal debate whether it is necessary for an artist, whether there is a real result from participating in different forms of competition in music. In this chapter we will look at the different aspects of each category, explore the objectives of the challenges faced by organisers of showcases, festivals and talent shows, and understand the nature of these events. I will give practical advice on behavioural strategies within the formats discussed.

  • Lesson 11. Concert Production

Concert activity is one of the most important parts of an artist's life. A successful live performance reflects many unique aspects at once: musical material, sound, performance, public image, audience contact and much more. In order for your performance to have a positive effect, you need to create and produce all the elements of the show in advance, then put them together in a quality way and present them to the audience with elements of improvisation. In this lesson we will look at different types and styles of performance, of different lengths and for different purposes. We will look at different dramatic techniques and dynamics of the performance, we will analyse the set list of the concert and the basic elements that need to be prepared.

  • Lesson 12. Concert Promotion

Organising concerts and tours is a separate area of the music business, filled with individual entrepreneurs, local and global companies. There is a lot of competition and real excitement! In this lesson we'll look at it from the point of view of an aspiring artist and his opportunities to build the right relationships in this field: namely, we'll look at the role of a concert promoter, what are his functions? How to attract them? What are the working conditions and what is the contract? How to build a long-term relationship? We will also look at your role in the preparation of materials and pre-event communication.
